UNDER CONSTRUCTION e-learning platform takes shape

The Erasmus + project will provide seven training courses on key skills making top professionals in construction and habitat 4.0 through online tools

Under Construction – ‘Key Skills Making Top Professionals in Construction and Habitat 4.0’ is immersed in the development of Intellectual Output 3 of the project, a Multilingual Learning Platform. The students will be able to explore the most suitable training paths in seven domains: carpentry, bricklaying, wall & floor tilling, cabinetmaking/joinery, domotics, design & technologies and 3D printing.

The seven courses are being designed in terms of the necessary areas of training and the pedagogical methodologies optimized to fit the variety of skills, by providing a core training path, as well as training modules and their units to address the specific top skills of those seven areas. In addition, the training materials will be in English, Portuguese, German, Spanish, Dutch and Italian.

The leader of this output is CETEM, who is collaborating with all partners. The objective is to integrate a set of interactive open online services that will provide learners and trainers with all the information, tools and resources to support them during the learning period. In fact, all the materials developed for the e-learning units will be hosted on the platform with free access under registration. For that reason, the Spanish partner is collecting all the training material developed during Intellectual Output 2 by creating a massive open online course (MOOC) based on Opigno, the e-learning management system of Drupal.

Each course is divided in three main skills (pillars). The students will find a deep explanation of the training contents on a coursebook, the main ideas summarized in slides and some multiple-choice questions to validate their knowledge. Not to mention the fact that the partners are also producing very interesting interactive content such as video pills that will be host in the platform.

This platform means a big innovation because it is boosting the self-training in top skills in some traditional and emerging job positions according their own learning pace but adding the possibility that learners could give feedback between them. The creation of the Under Construction platform will intend to be used as many VET institutions, professional clusters, regional developers, solitary learners and stakeholders as possible, because the platform has the plasticity to be adapted to all their needs and the possibility of being transferred to other sectors.

The platform will be available in 2021 and will be validated through pilot tests with students and professionals. Whether you are a learner or a trainer, stay tuned because it will be further news pretty soon.
